Buying or selling a home can be an incredibly personal process. You end up telling your agent a lot about your life, and being comfortable with that person takes the pressure off. A lot of my clients and friends here are LGBTQ+, and my husband and I have been through this ourselves. I know what that's worth. One less thing to think about while we work through the rest.

Talk about your partner, your family, and your plans the way you actually talk about them. That's how it works with me, and with everyone I bring into the process. Two names on a loan and no marriage certificate, buying while a surrogacy or adoption timeline runs in the background, a household that doesn't fit the boxes on the form. My husband and I have been through some of that ourselves. If you're trans or nonbinary, I use your name and pronouns everywhere I have control over them, and I ask instead of assuming. None of it is unusual to me. It's just how I work.

Over the years I've built relationships with incredible lenders, title attorneys, transaction coordinators, inspectors, and contractors I genuinely trust. Some are part of the community, and the rest have earned the referral by how they treat my clients. If you already have people you prefer to work with, that's completely fine. But if you'd rather not wonder how a conversation is going to go, I can introduce you to someone who won't make you think about it.

Plenty of my clients are moving here from California, New York, or Chicago, often before they've spent much time in the city. We do video walkthroughs, I'm your eyes at showings, and I'll answer the questions that come after closing too. Where to find a doctor, a gym, a good brunch, a daycare, a barber who gets it right. Ask me the way you'd ask a friend who already lives here, because moving is a lot more than the house.
